We are very happy to announce the La Fée Absinthe tour of Australia.  La Fée owner George Rowley, with leading importer Think Spirits, will be travelling to Australia's major cities over one week to host absinthe master-classes for the trade, continuing our commitment to education for the good of the category.  Starting in Brisbane on Tuesday the 30th of September and finishing in Sydney on Sunday the 5th of October - here's the full itinerary:

2] Perth, Wednesday 1st October, 4.00pm at Bar Lafayette

3] Adelaide, Thursday 2nd October, 3.00pm at Botanic Bar

4] Melbourne, Friday 3rd October, 2.30pm at Cantina

If you work in the drinks trade or media, and would like to join us at any of these events, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

George Rowley is the owner of La Fée, who in association with The French Absinthe Museum returned the commercial distilling of traditional Absinthe to France in 2000.  The master-classes will cover absinthe's history, bans, and the work undertaken to revive the category with La Fée, as well as a chance to taste the range, classic cocktails and ask any questions.

A Fine Decision PDF Print E-mail

Pernod Fils' distillery in Pontarlier, France, C. 19th century.

Absinthe producers were relieved last week when the Swiss federal administrative court in Saint Gallen overruled a decision to give absinthe produced in the Val-de-Travers region a GI (Geographical Indication).  Had the GI been passed, all producers outside of this region would be prohibited from using the name 'Absinthe'!

The decision respects both French and Swiss historical distillers and will protect absinthe's future around the world by allowing all producers of the Green Fairy to continue calling their spirits Absinthe:  It's a plant - not a place!

The UAE is made up of 7 emirates including Abu Dhabi (the largest) which holds the presidency and Dubai which is the main transit and visitor destination. These areas are receiving much investment including the building of the Louvre Abu Dhabi (Dec 2015) and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi (2017) as well as resorts the size of small cities.

Flying out of Heathrow T3, it was a pleasure to see La Fée in Duty Free and a passenger having just purchased, a good omen for my trip… On landing at Dubai, La Fée was also in the Duty Free landing and departure stores.

This Daiquiri-like cocktail by The Savoy's Tom Walker is as cool and crisp as a dip in a mountain stream.  Don't be scared of the absinthe - it makes the drink.  By Alice Lascelles in The Sunday Times Magazine.

Absinthe Day: A celebration of Absinthe's return to the United States PDF Print E-mail

Monday, 28 April 2014 01:00

Today [March the 5th] marks the anniversary of Absinthe's return to the USA, which feels very appropriate, as we are currently shipping a container to the USA:  Containing for the first time our all-natural La Fée Parisienne, Absinthe Supérieure as well as our La Fée Blanche, Absinthe Supérieure, a combination that offers traditional Verte and Blanche Absinthe endorsed by the French Absinthe Museum (Auvers-sur-Oise).

From 2000 to present day:  the evolution of La Fée's traditional French absinthe

Parisienne & Blanche are based on traditional 19th century recipes and made with 100% natural ingredients including Grand Wormwood, Green Anise & Fennel seed, with Parisienne's natural colour protected by a UV resistant bottle.  Parisienne is a rich, vibrant Verte possessing earthy wormwood character and warm spice with a hint of fennel sweetness and citrus - perfect for classic cocktails and the traditional serve.  Blanche is, by comparison, a lighter, fresher and naturally sweeter absinthe - incredibly versatile and a delightful alternative to the classic Verte style.

Here are the other important dates for Absinthe lovers:

- May 2000 – La Fée returns the distillation of Absinthe to France with the French Absinthe Museum, distilling and bottling in Paris

- April 2011 – France repeals its ban, allowing absinthe to be labelled and sold as such for the first time in nearly 100 years.
